For instance our very confined lives can seem like prisons relative to the vast world. Or how we can ultimilty only acquire as much knowledge that is available to us as a species similar to the limited yet diverse learning of other species. An example of this ideal in literature is an allegory. Allegories share stories that have a more in depth meaning. A prominent support of this idea is when Davidge tries to murder Jerry一the alien一 after crashing on the unknown planet. He fails and instead is imprisoned by Jerry. Davidge then becomes hungry and is forced to eat the unpleasant food. After some time they communicate through their language barrier that they are not safe from meteor showers and a suitable place for shelter is in urgent need of. The two also embrace each other's religions, ideals, languages, and routines as they create a plan to go back home. Davidge, while on his journey to find a way out of the planet is met with Drac remains and evidence of human transpassing. The two pieces of evidence show that on their current planet humans were scavenging and enslaving Dracs. Though Davidge had become stranded on the planet only due to his lost battle with a Drac, now his life is full of different perspectives. Infact, now. Davidge only has Jerry to care about. This dramatic shift shown by the loss of ignorance and bias portrays a lesson to the viewer.
