No human can fully be a good person, it is how you handle those emotions that counts. The book “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and other stories” is a book about Dr.Jekyll, the protagonist, who is an upperclassman, and more importantly, a scientist who is experimenting with the darker side of science. The idea of the book is that Dr.Jekyll loses control and creates a sinister alter ego which he now has to control. “It is one thing to mortify curiosity, another to conquer it. ” Dr. Jekyll is known as his normal or content side, but matters get worse when he lets his alter ego “Mr Hyde” roams free, since this alter ego is his evil side. I think he may have been in the position where he needed to reevaluate himself and actions, and question whether or not this way of life is okay to live. Had he done that he could have taken it step by step to figure out how to deal with this problem. I think the cause of this problem was depression, because when someone is depressed they stop doing things that they would usually be capable of doing, even if they know it's bad. What is his personality classified as? Dr. Jekyll Disassociative personality disorder Dr Jeykll disassociates with his regular personality and acts almost as if he had been possessed by his alter ego, making him indulge in his bad/ inappropriate ways. This obviously is not normal behavior, but the idea of this book is that a good person is a person who can control their emotions, and Dr Jekyll is an example of someone who failed to do so, classifying him as a bad person as a result of his point of view in life.“If I am the chief of sinners, I am the chief of sufferers also.” This quote describes the fact that though Dr Jekyll suffers from a lot, he in return deals with the consequences.
