Ambition is the downfall of many great people and Empires, but it is not always the new king who had the power hunger, it is many times their peers or family members that want the crown. The new king is blamed for all the problems and turmoil they have created even though they were not the ones that wanted the crown. In Macbeth by William Shakespeare it is lady Macbeth who had the ambition not Macbeth. Despite Macbeth’s own decisions to keep his crown, it is lady Macbeth who is the one at fault for their misery because she pushed Macbeth to become king. Macbeth did make his own irrational decisions while being king. Theses decision were purly made out of fear and anxiety of being killed for his murders. One of these decisions was to kill Banquo. Macbeth stated, “It is concluded. Banquo thy soul's flight, / If it find heaven, must find it tonight” …show more content…

This displayed that he made his own decision about his safety, but he made it out of fear of his own eventual death. However, it was Lady macbeth who shoved him along the path of becoming king of Scotland. She forced him to make these hard decisions to keep himself alive, which forced him to murder fellow peers. These decisions were made because he was king a title he was not even sure he wanted. Lady Macbeth wanted to become queen of Scotland, which meant that Macbeth must become king and without asking him she made sure he would become king. Lady Macbeth said, “Hie thee hither, / That I may pour, my spirits in thine ear / And chastise with the valor of my tongue / All that impedes the from the golden round” (1.5.27-31). This soliloquy displayed her need for the crown and to be married to the king. She never even asked Macbeth is he wanted this position in the kingdom she just wanted it for herself without thinking of the consequences and anxiety attached to being king.
