Change Atticus’ parenting style in the book is trustworthy and distant. Atticus is the father of Jem and Scout. He is also a lawyer. During the day the children are left to walk around town, and travel to school by themselves. This style contains some consequences in the future. Toward the end of the story Atticus becomes much closer. Atticus now begins to witness and understand the troubles of the children wondering off on their own. Atticus’ parenting style drastically changes throughout the story. During the daytime Atticus leaves for work and leaves the children with Calpurnia. Calpurnia is the hired housekeeper that takes care of the house and kids. Atticus leaves his trust with her to keep the children together. The children though walk around town and go on adventures without either of them knowing. Since their mother pasted away, Atticus seems to not know what to do with the children. Due to this, he hires Calpurnia. She acts almost like the mother figure who dresses Scout. She also disciplines the children and attempts to teach them proper manners. Toward the end of the story, due to life threatening events, Atticus’ becomes closer with his children.
