Imagine the perfect image of justice, most people will see a judge, a jury or even a police. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird the image of justice is Atticus Finch. He was the first in the Finch line to leave Finch’s Landing and pursue the study of Law. In order for him to study law, he would have to be intelligent so he could retain the information that was taught to him. Not only is he intelligent, he is also very brave.
Change Atticus’ parenting style in the book is trustworthy and distant. Atticus is the father of Jem and Scout. He is also a lawyer. During the day the children are left to walk around town, and travel to school by themselves. This style contains some consequences in the future.
Atticus a well known lawyer in the little town of Maycomb in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. He comes up against a tough, rock solid case including an African American man and a young woman who grew up in poverty. Atticus has trust in the power in using the three models of rhetoric. Ethos,Pathos and Logos to prove to the jury that his client is innocent and can walk out of court that day a free man. (Lee).
While Scout faced internal fear with Boo Radley near the start of the book, her father, Atticus Finch, faced external conflict in his suspenseful trial and task of defending Tom Robinson for a crime he did not commit. Atticus faced many problems against Bob Ewell. Although, Atticus never faced any physical problems with the man as he took a more peaceful approach to his conflict. After Tom’s trial, Ewell approached Atticus and spat in his face. Although, he did not react in any physical way.
A Well Respected Man Atticus is a well respected man throughout the town of Maycomb. Although criticized openly he still continued to do the right thing for others People admired him for so many reasons. Three reasons he was an admirable person was one he was compassionate to others, he was caring, and finally he was brave. In the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” Atticus is well respected.
Atticus had a huge belief in fairness and respect. If Atticus thought he had an unfair advantage over killing an animal, he would not do it unless it was completely necessary. He believes that being a noble person who treats others with kindness and respect is far more important that shooting a gun correctly. Atticus had the opportunity to shoot the dog in an instant but because of his beliefs and morals he had waited until it was absolutely the correct time. Atticus soon decides to teach the kids a life lesson.
He bought his kids air rifles but he wouldn’t teach them how to shoot them, “ when he gave us our air-rifles Atticus wouldn’t teach us to shoot. Uncle Jack instructed us in the rudiments thereof; he said Atticus wasn’t interested in guns. (Lee 119)” Jem was going to shoot Miss Maudie in the butt. Atticus said “ Don’t you ever let me catch you pointing that gun at anybody again.
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, many different characters are compared to a mockingbird due to the fact that these characters show peacefulness and tranquility. Harper Lee states that: "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, the only thing they do is sing their hearts out for us, That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 93). This quote shows that a mockingbird is peaceful. This bird provides good qualities.
He was willing to take the hit on his reputation and public image to defend his values. Throughout the novel, you can tell why Atticus isn’t interested in guns and violence. In multiple situations, he demonstrates that he would much rather talk things out to find a solution than to solve a problem with violence.
Even just a little bit of faith can go a long way. Atticus was a man of God, ultimately because he had faith in God. His faith was put on the line when he was chosen to represent Tom Robinson. Instead of giving up and losing hope, he held onto his faith even tighter than before and trusted in God’s providence. As a reader, it is made known that in order for Atticus to stand in front of his fellow Maycomb citizens and wholeheartedly defend a Negroe, he needed to obtain a little bit of faith.
While in the courtroom Atticus also shows great courage. He did not go along with what Heck Tate told the court about what really happened the night Bob Ewell was found stabbed to death. Atticus put his life and career in the line; he knew, as a lawyer of the court, if he hides evidence he could be sent to jail. Like many times before, doing what was right wins over Atticus’s thinking. In addition, Atticus goes against his moral code and principles that he has always uphold, when Atticus is faced with the decision of staying by the law or forgetting it in order to do the correct thing.
