The journey continues with the individual leaving the ordinary world to descend into the special world. The decent into the special world brings the individual through different adventures and experiences that reveal weakness and allow for strength and development to conquer those weaknesses. Bilbo baggins journey represents the “hero’s Journey”as he leaves the ordinary world as an ordinary hobbit,enters the special world as a developing warrior,and returns as an unexpected hero.

From that point it seems that Bilbo is not going to follow the journey, but right after Bilbo is coerced into joining the adventure.
The author even writes that all of the dwarves consider Bilbo as their leader because of his greater courage. Some people might argue, however, that a hero like Bilbo will not show courage and rationality only when he intends to, like in the cave with Smaug. This is a good point, especially since most actions are made voluntarily, but it is incorrect. From the text, Bilbo acts instantly on impulse without thinking about going and helping save the dwarves from both the spiders and the elves. He displayed courage and quick-thinking without thinking about it.
Although Bilbo was not captured, his friends the dwarves were. Without hesitation, Bilbo uses his sword to slay the spiders, and immediately sets out to find the dwarves. The old Bilbo probably would have run in fear. “Somehow the killing of the giant spiders, all alone by himself in the dark... made a great difference to Mr. Baggins. He felt a different person” (Tolkien 144).
The company faces many challenges while Gandalf aids them. Eventually, Bilbo becomes forced to take charge and lead the company to the mountain. The experiences Bilbo encounters throughout his journey define and shape him into the hero he becomes. The Hobbit follows the story of Bilbo by mirroring the heroic journey, showing Bilbo’s dramatic change from the Hobbit he once was.

Everyone is different when they start practicing something new, something that is out of their comfort zone. Normally people do not like performing anything that involves them leaving their bubble; they just like to keep it simple. People do things that they like and what they are used to, not expected or indifferent things.
