The Outcomes of Bullying Bullying is repeated acts of violence against someone to gain power or advance status. Often, the explanation behind bullying is insecurity or violence at home. Bullying can seriously affect people, with effects including anxiety, depression, sadness, and loss of interest in hobbies. In the book Egghead by Caroline Pignat, the high school outcast Will is at odds with the school bullies Shane, Devan, and Brad.
The Mighty Essay Max and Kevin have a mutualistic friendship because they both get something from each other.(A mutualistic friendship is when two people get something out of it)This book is about a two young kids that got their lives changed for a long time. I’m about to tell how Kevin changed Max's life for a long time. They both don’t have friends and when Kevin came to the town and he was neighbors with Max. That's how it all started.
In “How to Handle a Bully,” by Kathiann Kowalski, an experienced journalist, Kowalski reports the different strategies to stop bullying. She informs that bullying is at its peak in the late teenage years, but can start in an early age. Kowalski concurs that girls intimidates as much as boys; however, they do it differently. She explores many reasons why bullying occurs at the first place, and who starts bullying. Kowalski exemplifies the situations that victims could be in, and the solution on how to handle the bully.
I say that because whenever one of them is in trouble they combine their strength to get out of situations. The only problem with that is that Max does not have mental strength and Freak doesn’t have muscle. All these instances show Rodman Philbrick highlighting the theme of external conflict bringing them together. Other characters don’t understand Freak or Max’s problems; they just judge them for what attributes they lack. There was one time when Max was abducted by Killer Kane and Freak came to save the day by tricking Killer Kane that there was acid in his gun, and he squirted it on his eye, tricking him that he will turn out to be blind because of it.
Freak the Mighty is a book about two boys who both have disabilities. Freak or Kevin has a disability with growing and Max or Maxwell has a disability with learning. They were in the same day care class when they were young, but then Freak moved. When they were entering 8th grade Freak’s family, his mom and himself, moved back next to Max’s family’s, his grandparents and himself, house. They became friend and took care of each other disabilities.
“One out of every five students report being bullied’’. This fact from the National bullying prevention center shows that a lot of kids are being bullied. In Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, Stargirl faces three types of bullying but one event has a major impact on Stargirl and through these events, we are shown Spinelli's opinions and ideas on bullies. Emotional bullying is shown throughout Stargirl as she gets bullied by her classmates and school members. After the basketball team loses, the whole school blames the loss on Stargirl.
The underlying truth is the few who experience being bully their voice are taken away to fight against the cruelty, a piece of themselves and security are gone. According to Eleanor Gold’s article Vampires in the Lemon Grove – Karen Russell states, “Eric Mutis has been the favorite subject of Larry’s physical and emotional bullying” (Gold). Larry was uses to Eric’s fear of him, and the bullying became inevitable nor did he tries to stop Larry and his friends. Eric accepts the pain, even when Eric trust Larry about the situation with the rabbit, Larry became a fake friend and betray Eric at the end. In other words, Larry’s bullying is a sign of loss of innocence, Larry takes his anger out of every rich kid he and his friends come across.
¨Bullying is a national epidemic” (Macklemore) bullying has always been a problem but no one seems to try and stop it. In the novel Shattering Glass and the play Romeo and Juliet the evolution of bullying can be seen, but yet no one had tried to stop it in either of the books. In the play Romeo and Juliet the families bully each other around until eventually their own kids take their lives, because they could not be together due to the feud. In the book Shattering Glass by Gail Giles the characters touch a little bit on cyberbullying, but mainly they verbally and physically abuse people in the story to help them achieve what the characters want.
Imagine that you were considered freaks like Kevin and Max because of your freakish attributes. One super tall, strong and dull and the other short, frail, and intelligent, as one they are Freak the Mighty. Throughout the story Max and Kevin show their individuality, but they are also similar in the fact that they are both considered freaks. Even though Max and Kevin have somethings that are similar they are different in strength, and personality. These differences help complete Freak the Mighty because they have things that the other one does not.
Friendship “A best friend is someone who you can talk to, who won’t judge you, loves you for you, and most of all, makes you feel like you are worth something.” Even though this is written by an anonymous person, it is still extremely empowering. During the novel Freak the Mighty, Max and Kevin demonstrated a strong friendship. In fact, when they accepted each other without judgment and made each other feel like they belonged, their friendship grows. Friendship is important because having a good friend can get you through rough and frustrating times.
Freak the Mighty Compare and Contrast Freak the Mighty is a unique story. Both the movie and the book are very enjoyable. It is easy to find the similarities and differences between the two. The similarities between the movie and the book are interesting.
