The Catholic Graduate Expectations

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will never leave nor forsake you,” Deuteronomy 31:15. The notion that God is always with us, keeping us courageous, is inspiring to me as a Catholic graduate. That belief is one of the most important cornerstones of the Catholic Graduate Expectations: a series of expectations that every Catholic school student should strive and attempt to achieve. They include things such as being a holistic thinker, an effective communicator, or a lifelong learner. In my opinion, I’ve achieved and exceeded three of the most important expectations- being a responsible citizen, a caring family member, and a lifelong learner.

Being a responsible citizen is something each and every one of us have to uphold, something important to us, and to everyone around us. But how on earth do we achieve that? My parents always praised how creative I was, how early I learned to read and my school grades. But of course, being a lifelong learner isn’t just about school. It’s about learning about the world around you, about belief and hundreds of other things. Ever since I was a kid I was inquisitive, curious, and always tried to learn everything I could. Learning about my surroundings, how the world worked, was one of the best things in my childhood. I strive to continue that inquisitiveness and sense of curiosity as I grow older and delve further into my faith. As well, I work hard to uphold my grades and continue to learn as I try to achieve higher learning such as high school and then graduation to places like university. Learning, whether academic or not, is a value I hold close and know that will stay with me throughout my
