The society of Fahrenheit 451 has been greatly affected by censorship. The entire population has grown so accustomed to this censorship that they can not point out the dangers of it. Our society today can learn an important lesson from this book. Censorship has taken over the society of the novel because of those who have power over it and it is so dangerous. The only issue is that “they didn’t show the man’s face in focus” (151). This is a great example of how the government manipulates people’s thoughts through technology, and why censorship is so dangerous. The lesson that society today can learn from Fahrenheit 451 is that we should never let go of our thoughts and opinions. As soon as we do not make our thoughts known, censorship can take over and destroy our society. In the novel, restricting useful things causes people to use technology constantly. With the consistent use of technology, people are always being controlled and unable to socialize. Clarisse says that “people don’t talk about anything” even when they are around others: “They all say the same things and nobody says anything different than anyone else” (29). This lack of socialization caused the society to fall apart. When Mildred’s friends all come over to watch in the parlor, Montag wants to try and get them to socialize so he turns off the TVs in the parlor. Not a second goes by when suddenly “the three women [turn] slowly and look with unconcealed irritation and then dislike at Montag”
