Civil Disobedience
What is civil disobedience? Civil disobedience is people protesting the government. Rosa Parks and her bus boycott is a great example of civil disobedience. Just like Rosa Parks’s story Before We Were Free has some examples of civil disobedience. They both include protesting and fighting for what's right.

The Montgomery bus boycott started by Rosa Parks is a major part of civil disobedience. It shows how passionate she was about equality. For example when all the other black people moved, Rosa stayed and stood up for equality. When Rosa could have just moved she decided she wanted to make a change. Despite the consequences. This started a bus boycott where black people wouldn’t ride the bus. Which caused the buses to not make money. After a year of boycotting the segregation laws changed.

The “butterflies'' were a big part of civil disobedience in D.R. For example Anita hears Papi talking about how they died in a “car accident”. “ Even the Americans are protesting. ( Alvarez 28)” Everyone is upset because they were really trying to make a big difference. Another example is the Garcias leaving to escape the dictator. “ Papi begins explaining that the Garcias have finally gotten permission to leave the country and they’ll be taking the airplane in a few hours to the United States of America.(Alvarez 4)”

The civil disobedience with Rosa Parks and Before we were free are very similar. Rosa Parks stood up for justice just like the butterflies. They were all fighting for freedom and equality. Eventually all the problems they were fighting for were resolved.
CONCLUSION
Overall these are just some examples of civil disobedience & it can come in many different forms. But at the end of the day Rosa and the butterflies all want the same thing, equality and laws to change for the
