Cognitive Dissonance Theory I would describe cognitive dissonance as a location involving conflicting behaviors or beliefs and attitudes. Cognitive dissonance generates emotion of anxiety leading to a change in individual’s attitudes, behaviors or beliefs to restore balance and reduce discomfort (Stone, & Fried, 1994). One time in my life I experienced cognitive dissonance was when I use to drink alcoholic beverages. However, It was difficult for me to make a decision to stop because thoughts of drinking were buried in my mind until a decision was made by me. Conflicting cognitions which was the source of my discomfort was that drinking will abridge the living which I desire to exist. One method that I employed to reduce cognitive dissonance was to spotlight on extra supportive beliefs which offset behavior or belief (Stone, & Fried, 1994). A second method was to diminish significance of the contradictory conviction. And a third method was to alter contradictory belief in order to be reliable with other behaviors or beliefs. However, a person who might not have had experiences with dissonance within this position is someone with low meticulousness. However, people should both maintain and organize their personal cognitions such as beliefs, self-perceptions and attitudes in a trustworthy manner. Furthermore, people should also consider that they liberally select to partake in and contradict attitudinal behavior for cognitive conflict to accurately take effect. If an individual identifies any vigor being placed out against him/her, he/she must be capable to employ minimum of professed cruelty to justify his/her actions and as a result experience minimum dissonance (Myers, & Jeeves,
