Russell Grandon Mrs. Williams ELA 23 March 2023 The conflicts of the Outsiders There are many conflicts in the Outsiders that show the characters struggles in their lives and how it affects the characters throughout the story.The outsiders is a story taking place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s. The Outsiders is about the struggles and conflicts between the Greasers and Socs. THe main characters include Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally. There are many conflicts seen within the story of the outsiders, For example, the Greasers against the Scs in their society was one of the biggest conflicts for the entirety of the story. Another example is when Johnny killed Bob the Soc. This took place near the beginning of the book and affected the main characters heavily throughout most of the book. …show more content…
And the Socs are the rich kids who have so much money they are always bored. Here is a description of the Greasers and Socs from the book. “Socs who jump greasers wreck houses and throw beer blast for kicks, and get editorials in the paper for being a public disgrace one day and an asset to society the next.” (Hinton #3) “Greasers are almost like hood; we steal things and drive old souped up cars and hold up gas stations and have gang fights once in a while.” (Hinton #3) This caused many problems between the two sides because they couldn't accept the differences between them. Eventually the Greasers and Socs planned a rumble in the lot without weapons and agreed to keep whoever lost off the other side. The Greasers ended up taking the victory and the Greasers and Socs stopped bothering each
