If your friend jumped off of a bridge would you? Probably not. We should not conform and do something just because other people are. This conformity is very present in the book To Kill A Mockingbird. This book really does show how horrible conformity can be and how horrible people can treat other people who don’t even deserve it, the people that are mockingbirds. A mockingbird is an innocent creature that doesn’t harm anyone. They are people that are hurt just for being different. In an article about conformity Charlotte Harrison states, “Being different from the group carries the risk of social rejection, a deep fear of many people. Jem doesn't know who to thank for putting the blanket on him when he was cold but then Atticus tells him, “Boo Radley. You were so busy looking at the fire you didn’t know it when he put the blanket around you.” (Lee 82) This shows how Boo Radley is a kind and harmless man. He knows that the kids and everyone else judge and are scared of him but he doesn't care, he still helps them to feel comforted and safe. Plus he doesn't even expect anything from it, considering he didn't let Jem know he was putting it on when he did it. When Jem and Scout join Dill who is on his way to Boo Radley's house Jemtrys to warn Dill about Boo he says, “ I hope you8 get it through your head that he'll kill us each and everyone Dill Harris.” (Lee 15) This quote shows really how much the kids just assume about him. They assume he’s evil just because of others beliefs being the same. It’s unfair how he is nothing but good to them and they dont even give him a chance. Boo Radley is a caring old man who did nothing to anyone. People judge him because they don’t know him and only conform to society’s actions and are mean to the poor/
