Intro:
1. “Courage isn’t having the strength to go on - it is going on when you don’t have the strength”(Napoleon Bonaparte).
2. Atticus says that Mrs. Dubose showed real courage when she decided to die free of her addiction, this is just one character of many that showed courage through the Novel.
3. The novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee highlights the woes and ways of a small deep south county in the 1930’s.

Atticus doesn’t believe in social norms or prejudices and he isn’t afraid to stand up to Maycomb society. He is willing to fight the losing battle just because it’s the right thing to do.
2. Atticus shows courage because he goes against Maycomb society in defending Tom Robinsion. He knows that the people of Maycomb will not support him, that he will not win the trial, and that it will change his and his kids life but he does it anyway because it’s the right thing to do.

2. In her last weeks on earth she decided she wanted to die free and kick her addiction. This process was awful and unnecessary but it showed exemplary courage on mrs, Dubose’s part.
