Dear Meredith, I am writing to express my interest in the Academic Coach (Math, K-8) position. In my twenty-three-year career with the School District of Philadelphia, my leadership experiences have demonstrated that I can excel at all the essential functions and have the requirements needed to fill the position. The position of Academic Coach requires many essential functions to be successful. The three I feel most important are supporting all stakeholders involved, complete understanding of the mathematical instruction curriculum and implementing change to make positive growth in and out of the classroom.

When I first received the letter inviting me to apply for National Honor Society, my first thought was how incredibly proud I was for the amount of hard work and dedication I have put into my last few years of high school. When I was little, I looked up to the students who were decorated in cords and the National Honor Society stole when they walked across the stage at graduation. It is such a profound honor to be a candidate for National Honor Society. I have driven myself to be hard-working and to achieve as much as possible. Along with being hard-working and achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, I have decided to try new things and start the strenuous sport of cross country.

“The disastrous military events which have happened during the past fortnight have not come to me with any sense of surprise.” (Churchill) When we look back at what occurred during the Second World War, we find many battles and fighting over most of Western Europe. One of the battles that receives a fair amount of discussion is the Battle of Britain during 1940. This battle in particular is very interesting because of the way that it was carried out. The British won due to the failures by the Germans and the advances that Britain ended up having over the Germans.

I wish to apply for the position of History Teacher at QEH. I am currently an NQT in my second year of the Teach First programme, having obtained QTS last summer. I started my training at Merrill Academy, a mixed comprehensive school, which serves one of the poorest communities in the UK. My more recent post, at Orchard School Bristol, has required me to adapt quickly and learn new approaches in a different context. Teaching such a diverse cohort, at both schools, affirmed my belief that education knows no boundaries and is the key to unlocking potential in all students, from all backgrounds.
