Great Gatsby The Webster dictionary describes responsibility as the state of being the primary cause of something and therefore, able to be blamed or credited for it. Tom, Daisy and Gatsby are three characters in the literary work The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald who take no responsibility for their actions, due to this fact the lives of others are destroyed. Daisy a beautiful temptress is the type of woman that seldom takes responsibility for any wrong doing within her life. Gatsby the great too, rarely holds himself responsible for his misconducts although, his love is what drives the honesty from him, his feelings for Daisy allow him to be so meek to take the responsibility for others faults. When something goes wrong in her life she hides behind her money, she feels safe with Tom and their money. When Gatsby was killed Daisy and Tom were long gone. “I called up Daisy half an hour after we found him, called her instinctively and without hesitation. But she and Tom had gone away early that afternoon, and taken baggage with them.” (pg. 172). Daisy and Tom just pack up and leave when a problem occurs in their lives, she never admitted that she was the one driving the night Myrtle was if she had Gatsby would still be alive. She just hid behind her money and hoped Gatsby would not talk, but she knew he would not. Daisy loves having money she grew up with lots of money so she married into a lot of money. She loved Gatsby at one point in her life but he could never support her because he had no money, he was poor. Nick and Gatsby were having a conversation about Daisy outside her house when they were waiting for her to come out so they could go into town. They were talking about her voice and Gatsby commented that “her voice is full of money” (pg 127). All Daisy wants is money, she married Tom because he could support her but she has and always will love
