Gatsby’s expectation was too high which cause Daisy not to meet it. “Social expectation is an internalized social norm for individuals and organizations, thus for society as a whole, about what people should do” (Hasegawa). Scott Fitzgerald, Daisy does not conflict with society’s expectations because she is really passive, she does not express her feeling, and she lived in a rich household and followed all feminine expectation shown by her background. When Nick saw Tom and Daisy talking, Daisy was agreeing with what Tom was saying. This showing how Daisy is just keeping her feeling inside and having it all bottled up.
