The book, Veterans Day by J.J. Jorgens emphasizes the plight of neglected veterans in the United States of America. It presents a story about Mary Jane Morris, a female private detective. One Halloween night, she received an urgent voice message from her ex-partner, Davy, and she rushed to his office only to find him dead. Altogether, it looked like Davy committed suicide, but Mary Jane's instinct told her that there was more to her ex-partner's death. She felt Davy intentionally called her so that she could be the first person to discover his body; he wanted her to obtain clues about his killer.
War trenches are troughs in the ground where soldiers eat, sleep, prepare for battle, and fight. Besides the fact that the trenches were impractical, they were additionally very unsanitary, and caused countless issues for the soldiers. Diseases such as the flu and pneumonia were spread easily through the trenches. Other problems included conditions such as “trench foot” also advanced throughout rapidly. Dead bodies, trash, limbs, blood, guts and more were scattered across the trench floors, providing an unlivable space for the thousands of soldiers.
Name of Document: A Southern Woman Describes the Hardship of War - 1862 A. List four things the author said that you think are important: 1.The townspeople fears the fact that the southerns will lose the town. 2. Laura and other southerns didn’t expect to see the Union invade Tennessee so quickly. 3.All communication with the brother will be lost if the Union captures their town.
Trench foot could turn your feet infected and could lead to amputation. But by the end of the trench warfare is started to fade due to conditions started to get better. Mud also was a problem as in Australian trenches they didn’t use wooden floor boards to be a base so that you would have to walk in deep thick mud. But in source 6 you can see that the conditions in the German trenches was very good as everything was quite clean but this contradicts to the source 5 which is an Australians trench and it is filled with thick mud. Australian trenches were some of the worst due to its horrible conditions.
During July 1914, I wanted to see how 'optimistic ' the trenches are so as a missionary I stayed in a British trench in order to uncover the truth of trench life. As I took my first step in the trench I was welcomed by a sickening smell that flowed towards my nostrils I could hear explosions around me as I felt surrounded and I could see rats crawling along the muddy floor and malnourished soldiers starving to
The start of this book takes place in 1953; in the mountains of Czechoslovakia with a battalion of 900 German soldiers led by Hans Josef Wagemueller are facing defeat to the soviets. Rather than being captured by the soviets the Germans escape to the Swiss boarder and view the result of numerous un-thinkable events committed by the soviets along the way. After escaping, these ex-nazi soldiers join the French legion and head to Indochina and begin fighting in the French colonial war. After moving to Indochina where the legion is facing the Viet Minh the ex-nazis are formed into an all-German “Battalion of the Dammed” later renamed to “The Devils Guard” which is described to be a whole group of soldiers who have nothing left to lose. Which I would believe as being one of the most

In the address, “The Role of American Women in Wartime”, Clare Boothe Luce, an American congresswoman, advocates for the American women’s contribution to the war efforts at the women's banking committee. Although Luce’s speech opens with a controversial and condemning topic, Luce further explicates it, recognizing the struggles and difficulties that must be dealt with. Luce employs contrasting and critical tone, repetition, and imagery to highlight women’s needed sacrifices for the sake of America’s victory. Luce introduces with a contrasting and critical tone in order to emphasize that an adjustment must occur for the female system in America.
On July 28th, 1914 was when the First World War happened, which occurred in central Europe. WW1 and WW2 had a huge impact on women’s life, which from the start made women’s life change. Women played a huge role in changing their roles in the Canadian society. Prior to the war women had very little rights and were overruled by the men of the country. Although as the years began to go by things began to change slowly but surely for the women, for the better.
Australia’s home front played a significant and important role in World War One. Thousands of people took the roles that were previously filled by men, organisations were created to support the soldiers, care packages were manufactured, charities were created to fund help, and various other things. In this essay, I will be covering the use of propaganda, women’s roles, the Australian government’s control of enemy aliens and their censorship of information. During World War One, propaganda was used for various things such as to encourage more people to enlist in the army, for charities to collect donations, to create a strong hatred for the enemy and a sense of pride in their own country.
While the main conflicts, battles and alliances of World War II are thoroughly examined, the treatment of women both overseas and the United States becomes overlooked. In late 1941 and 1942, Jews in the Soviet Union were slaughtered and savagely murdered. Jewish females took the brunt of this slaughter as they “posed the greatest danger because of their capacity to reproduce their people. ”1 Women were less privileged than men during the Holocaust; if a woman was pregnant, she would be automatically sent to the gas chambers in order to prevent the repopulation of the people the Nazis despised.
The Effect of Women on the Outcome of World War Two World War II effected women tremendously by taking them out of their comfort zones and chucking them into the work force and pushing them to do most of the work men normally would have been doing. The war also effected women by providing opportunities for them to serve in non-traditional roles; in fact, some of them enlisted into the military to serve the United States. The way the war effected women is that they had to take care of family in addition to performing work normally done by men. It was difficult to find people to watch after kids which made life during this time very difficult. After the end of World War II society in general was effected considering the baby boom.
August Wilson’s Radio Golf, the last installment of his ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle, explores the evolution of the past and the present in regards to the history and culture of the African American race. Radio Golf, as well as the rest of his plays in the cycle are very heavily influenced by Wilson’s background as an African-American growing up in the Hill district of Pittsburgh. His experiences shaped the portrayal of the lives of the African-American characters in his plays. However, Wilson’s approach to depicting history through his work is quite different; his style is very unique. Wilson’s main concern as it pertained to his craft, was that the emotional strife, passion, and culture of the black race was evident.
Before WWI, women were restricted to traditionally feminine jobs. Their work was considered inferior and they were paid less than men. However, once WWI began, women were able to integrate themselves into a variety of different workforces. Since most men were off to serve in the military and navy, women that stayed behind replaced their positions in factories and other industries. Other women worked closely with the military as nurses or even soldiers.
American Women during World War 2 had many responsibilities at war, work, and home. But they did not have many equal rights compared to the rest of the society. The women’s rights and responsibilities topic is very interesting. One is understanding and knowing the history about the responsibilities women had to do and how hard working they were. This topic is very important because there was a big change in women’s rights and responsibilities during World War 2.
