Gatsby tries to win Daisy over and keep their affair a secret from Tom. As we know, Tom throws these huge parties hoping Daisy will show up, so he reignites the flame they had. Gatsby leads Tom to believe he is just another party-goer when he is plotting to steal Daisy away. Gatsby never lets on that he has a history with Daisy or that he is currently seeing in secret. He is playing it cool, bet he is set on getting Daisy back. Tom was starting to notice though; he was getting a little suspicious at one of the parties and seemed a little irritated that Daisy was enjoying herself. “Tom was evidently perturbed at Daisy’s running around alone, for on the following Saturday night he came with her to Gatsby's party.” (page 110). “Tom’s arrogant eyes roamed the crowd. We don’t go around very much,” he said. “In fact, I was just thinking I don’t know a soul here.” (Page 111). Tom continued to get frustrated throughout the night with Tom, “Who is this Gatsby anyhow?” demanded Tom.
