Dehumanization of the Jews During the Holocaust, dehumanization of the Jews took place. The Natzis would do several things to try and make the Jews feel like animals and nothing more. They wanted to show that the Jews were a race that should have not existed. They would go to any means to complete their objective of an Aryan race. In Night by Eli Wiesel, Eli showed many examples on how the Nazis tried to dehumanize the Jews during the Holocaust.
One example of the dehumanization of the Jews took place just before the Ghettos and their transportation. On page eleven, Elie narrates, “Three days later, a new decree: every Jew had to wear the yellow star.” This yellow star, that at first seemed harmless, would cause them great pain. This labeled the Jews just like they would tag animals. On the way to the concentration camps Eli narrates on page twenty-two, “The Hungarian police made us climb into the cars, eighty persons in each one.” The Natzis shoved as many Jews as they could into cattle cars. They didn’t even have enough space to sit down so they had to take turns and since it was winter, it was freezing inside.
