The dystopian world of 1984

In today's society, the government infringes upon people's basic rights. This includes keeping an eye on them at all times with technology, treating people poorly and restricting people from making their own choices. In Orwell’s 1984 the dystopian elements of constant surveillance, dehumanization, and restriction of independence are prevalent. These elements are also reflective of troubling trends in society today; just like in George Orwell’s 1984 dystopian novel. 1984 is a dystopian world taking place in London, Oceania where they are constantly being watched at all times to make sure there are no acts of rebellion and to only praise one leader (big brother). Immigrant children and parents were being separated and being put in cages like animals. For the same reason, the immigrants referred to the cages as “la perrera”. This inflicted trauma upon the little kids since they were separated from their parents and were also being treated like animals. To illustrate, these people would sleep on the floor with approximately 20= people per cage. Not only were they mistreated in this way, They were not fed properly and had foils as a replica of blankets. A forenisic doctor, valadysalv perovsky claimed many females were raped when their autopsies were being preformed. Not all were identified since they were crucially disfigured or burnt so they leave no trace of DNA behind. According to perouvskyis team they have “ been examining about 15 bodies a day, many of them mutilade. ‘There are many burnt bodies and heavily disfigured bodies that are just impossible to identify’ he said. "The face could be smashed into pieces, you can't put it back together, sometimes there's no head at all.” This was very inhuman to do which is pertinent to dehumanization. This inflicted pain to their families and to the women since they will never
