“Night” “Dehumanization although a concrete historical fact, is not given destiny but the result of an unjust order than engenders violence in the oppressors, which in turn dehumanizes the oppressed” - Paulo Freire. “Night” by Elie Wiesel was originally published in 1956. “Night” is an autobiographical novel teaching its readers about Elie's tragic experiences while enduring th3e Holocaust. In the book “Night” there were many points where Nazis would dehumanize the Jews. Jews suffered from starvation, were beat on the daily, robbed of their rights and possessions, separated from their family, controlled and eventually murdered. With this feeling the jews desire to live weakened. Imagine being brought into earth living free with the people you grew to love called your family. Imagine being adapted to the life you live and in a blink of an eye it all gets taken away from you for not actual reason except for the religion you and your family have been accustomed to. Whether your life was good or bad before the events you were about to witness it wouldn't matter simply because it was about to get worst of everyone. “I watched other hangings, I never saw a single victim weap. These withered bodies had long forgotten the bitter taste of tears” (53). The victims did not cry or feel sorrow simply because it probably felt good to know that they were no longer going to have to living in a world as they were before their death. It was somewhat of a relief that they could escape that feeling. Escape the horrors of being dehumanized and not living on concentration camps having to obey and live by the rules of those who hate “your kind”. Living in a world where your desire is no longer to live but to die instead. This was the life of the Jewish people at this
