Deviant Behavior Now Accepted Many things throughout our lives will change. Most are changing from how things are done but the more obvious changes are the opinions people have about specific things or situations. What once was thought of as a deviant act is now a normal occurrence and people don’t think twice about the situation. Growing up, teen pregnancy was looked down on tremendously. There were schools for those girls who “misbehaved” and were “trashy” along with other choice titles. Parents did everything they could to keep their daughters away from those types of girls and the girls that were pregnant typically where looked down upon and stayed away from many people besides their good friends, or that’s how it seemed. Abortion was pressured on many girls and many would give into the pressure and chose to abort their child. As a teen mother, I have been told by many people that teen pregnancy is unacceptable due to the fact that it is out of marriage and that teenagers are too immature to raise children. I understand why those individuals are feeling that way yet I have not found a clear reason as to why it is accepted. There are a few theories going around saying that the grandparents are raising the children and are viewing that child as their “second chance to raise a child right”. Could that be a possibility? They may be seen as two different issues but it goes along the lines of teen pregnancy, why is it accepted? Many people from older generations still stand strong that it is not an acceptable act. The younger generations have begun to accept the thought that many teens are having sex out of marriage. Is it due to the fact that many of them are guilty of it so they do not want to be hypocritical?
