Discrimination in the Holocaust
In a period of only a few years, one man was able to manipulate people to kill millions for him and his beliefs. Hitler was able to gain power in Germany very quickly in the 1940s. Once he had full power, he set up camps and sent Jews there to be killed by his Nazis. Discrimination against Jews and some other races existed and still exist because of Hitler’s ideas about Jews, concentration camps and experiments, and Neo Nazis. When Hitler was first gaining power in Germany, he slowly but surely introduced the same hatred of Jews and non-Germans to the citizens with the power the Germans were giving him.

For example, in this article, it gives a list of hundreds of Neo-Nazi groups that are still around 72 years after the Holocaust ended (SPLC 1). This shows that while the world put a huge punishment on Germany when WWII ended, there are still people who have the same beliefs as Hitler and choose to hate like he did. So many groups are discriminated against and it affects a lot of lives. Does points out that, “While legal changes and shifts in social norms dictate non-discrimination, group-based disparities continue to exist in important domains of life, such as income, housing, and health” (Does 1). This quote explains how even though things are being done to cut down on discrimination, it still exists and affects lives in, generally, a negative way. According to Does, “As Ellemers and Barreto have made clear, we cannot presuppose minorities’ awareness of implicit bias given the subtle, modern forms of discrimination” (Does 1). This last quote shows that as much as people may try to raise their kids to have an open mind and give everyone a fair chance because we’re all human, everyone grows up with some exposure to discrimination. As a result, they grow up with an image of a group that may or may not be true. The quotes show that while society and all of the world try their best to eliminate discrimination and have equality for everyone, it still remains in the minds and beliefs of some people no matter
