Throughout the novel, Gatsby is seen being dishonest by not telling people who was the person to really hit and kill Myrtle. Although Gatsby does not have any bad intentions, he could have prevented getting shot if he had only told the truth. After the accident, Gatsby and Nick were speaking and Gatsby happend to say, “yes, he said after a moment, but of course i’ll say I was” (Fitzgerald 143). It is clear that Gatsby is fine with taking the blame for Daisy since he is in love with her.
