Diversity in America If you were to travel to any city in America, you would notice diversity. America is a country built from immigrants. Everyone with different ethnicities, backgrounds, and stories to tell. With all of these cultures in one place, built the foundation for American culture. This is where we pull our music, foods, sports, and clothes from. Taking pieces from different cultures and mixing them together to create the America we have today. Taylor Swift is an excellent example of this. While the whole country is in love with her for a reason, she also has incorporated more out of the box thinking into her songs. Taylor also borrows techniques from hip-hop artists, and still has a way of making her own sound. Along with hip hop Taylor has, “capitalized on that universal appeal of rap: centering the underdog, the underappreciated, the hated, the disenfranchised” (Donnella). She uses the form of music and rap and speaks for the people who have trouble speaking for themselves. Without Taylor, this style of music would not be nearly as popular as it is today. She has advanced pop music and practically made it what it is today. Another example of this is in her song The Man, she sings, “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can, wonder if I’d get there quicker if I was a man” (Swift).
