According to the article “The Importance of Diversity in Books”, Dilloway, an author of middle-school level texts, states how “it’s also important to read about other peoples experiences, and understand what it's like to walk around in their skin” (Prescott 1). Diversity in books exposes children to learn about people who might be different from them and step into someone else’s shoes. I totally agree with the author, children born as a white board and their parents shape their culture, language, beliefs, and lifestyle. For example, my sisters and their children, I have two married sisters who live in Saudi Arabia. Each of them has different personality and values. Inequality in the Early Childhood Workforce In Early Childhood education and care, the health, well-being and safety of each child is the foremost priority. However, EC educators are often faced with the opinion that the task of educating of very young child requires little or no skill. This perception leads to the lack of support for continuing education or specialized training for those who work in the profession. Research suggests that the most important determinant of quality and the factor most related to achieving critical outcomes for children is the quality of the faculty who work directly with young children.

This paper discusses: the impact of the social environment in the home on early childhood development; the possible negative impact of the physical environment on a preschool child in a Guyanese home; and the impact of a positive social environment in the early childhood classroom.
