Dreams are aspirations that reflect a human’s wants and desires in life. They are a fundamental element that drives human beings to achieve the impossible. Dreams
To dream is to desire an achievement which seems unobtainable. Most everyone has trouble convincing themselves that their dreams are within reach. Jim Carrey once said, “So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality.” This is a result of allowing dreams to remain dreams and, instead, opting to take a more reliable path. In doing so, a sense of emptiness that never completely dies out is often developed.
The wizard of Oz tells the tale of an orphaned teenager named Dorothy. After a horrible encounter with her neighbor Miss Gulch, who tortures her dog, Dorothy begins to dream of life what her life might be like over the rainbow. Miss Gulch displeased with how the situation turned out, showed up with an order the following day to take Toto to the sheriff and kill him. However, Toto escapes from Miss Gulch’s confinement and returns to Dorothy where the two decide to run away from home without Miss Gulch’s knowing. In the midst of their escape, a cyclone appears and carries the two to another land known as the land of Oz.
When I dream during my sleep, it is nothing like I've experienced when I'm conscious. Dreaming is when you are completely in a different realm. This realm is called Neverland it is an "undiscovered and unmapped country" (Gottschall XIV). Neverland is untouched and that is what makes it so special. I believe if there were scientists conducting studies and trying to figure out why we dream, it would take away from this experience.
Even with eyes protected by the green spectacles, Dorothy and her friends were at first dazzled by the brilliancy of the wonderful city",as quoted in the novel. The Wizard of Oz gives each of the group an audience to request their wishes. He tells each that for their wishes to be granted they must kill the Wicked Witch of the West. The group does not want to kill her, but, they have no choice that they must travel to the West to find the Wicked
From Dreaming to Reality The definition of a dream is “to contemplate the possibility of doing something or that something might be the case.” In Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the theme of dreams is present throughout. This novella is about two men who went to a ranch as migrant workers with other men, and goes through the story of how one of them ended up dead. Many of the characters from this book had different dreams and the ability to have a better life, yet certain circumstances held them back.
There are various meanings as to why individuals dream. In ancient cultures, the purpose of dreams was that cultures could communicate with their gods. Mostly all of the ancient culture's dreams were related to their gods. Some cultures believed their dreams were messages from their god. On the other hand, the Romans believed otherwise, they thought their dreams were to expand the Roman Empire.
Dorothy realizes that there is no such thing as a wizard who can grant her wishes but rather she must get home on her own. I believe the wizard represents the Gilded Age because on the outside the wizard was a powerful man who can lead Dorothy home when he really was nothing more than a
This story is about a dream. In this dream, the sky and the land are not clear (like haze in China), and all things are vague. The protagonist feel uncomfortable and dizzy. She turn around but no one she can find, she only sees a pretty place behind her. She moves to there but farther and farther away.

What does it mean to dream? Well, I believe dreams will always remain a mystery of phenomenons that science will never be able to explain. However, we can interpret our dreams in many different aspects. Philosophers, such as Alan Watts, interpret dreams in an interesting way, such as it being an adventure (The Dream of Life). From this, I’d like to think of dreams as adventures for our minds; we’re subconsciously wandering to a new adventure every time we decide to rest our eyes.
