Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a very emotionally driven play. There are so many emotions expressed throughout the play. Macbeth is a very emotional character and during the story everything he does is strongly affected by his emotions. His emotions affect his relationships, his mindset, and his overall well being. Some of the emotions Macbeth experiences many emotions throughout the play such as greed, guilt, and fear.
One emotion Macbeth faces is greed. Firstly, he is told he will become king. The witches tell Macbeth “All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter.”(Shakespeare 1.3.50). This is the origin of Macbeth's greed. It drives him to kill Duncan and several other people in order to keep himself king. Secondly, greed changes Macbeth. In act three scene one macbeth orders two murderers to kill Banquo.(Shakespeare 3.1.74-82) This shows how greed affects Macbeth. It caused Macbeth to kill his own friend so he could remain king. Greed doesn't just affect him, it affects his wife. She gets really weighed down by all the stress and pretty much goes insane. In conclusion, Macbeth experiences greed and it changes him.
