Slade Edge Journal Entry of Ender’s Game.
Day 1. Chapter 1.
“I am just like Peter. Take my monitor away and I am just like Peter.”(page 8.) This quote from Ender Games shows leadership, as Ender realizes that something is wrong with himself. Ender’s realization is good because he could change it in the future, and fix his errors. Realization and Observation is a key factor in leadership because it allows people to think clearly, thus being great leaders. I agree with this quote because he can realize who he is and realizes that it is subjectively wrong.
Day 2. Chapter 2
“I’ll play.” (pg.11) This short quote can still show his leadership values that he realizes what he can do and also realizes that the only option to stop Peter is to just play along with him. The kid whose arm he broke– Ender didn’t feel sorry for him.”(pg. 41) Ender’s leadership is shown through his ability to not have his indecision eat away at his soul. Also, Ender is ruthless, which is necessary for a leader, and a very strong ideology. He does not regret anything, because after all, Ender is the one being bullied and all he simply did was just respond. I agree with Ender’s actions in this scene because indecision makes for an extremely weak leader.
Day 6. Chapter 6
“Is it OK for us to do something together? Ender’s answer was to take Alai by the wrist and get ready to push off.” (pg. 59) Leadership is demonstrated by Ender, as he begins to start to understand how commands work, and commands Alai around, assisting him. Ender has been constantly improving his ability to get along with other people. He constructs a plan to destroy Barnard, and it works very well. I agree with his actions, as they demonstrate the leadership skills necessary to win the battle.
