Evidence Surrounding Robyn Going Missing Robyn Gardner was reported missing on August 2, 2011 by Gary Giordano. Giordano is the prime suspect in the disappearance of Gardner (Geerman). There is no concrete evidence to convict him of the crime; however, there are some pieces of evidence that make his confession of what happened seem very suspicious. Multiple witnesses and video surveillance showed the two together that day at a local restaurant, Rum Beef Bar and Grill, which is in the area of where Gardner was reported missing. The workers at the restaurant stated that Gardner seemed slightly woozy and quite drunk at the restaurant while they were eating. Video surveillance also captured the two leaving the restaurant in the Toyota Rav 4 that they had rented for the weekend. However, the windows of the car were tinted so it was impossible to tell who was in the car and if there were more than just the couple (Johnson). …show more content…
A bloody handprint was found on a rock behind the restaurant and was examined to see if it had any relevance to Gardner’s disappearance. Police also discovered that Giordano had taken out a 1.5 million dollar accidental death life insurance policy on Gardner just days before the trip, creating further suspicion (Gutman). The policy only covered the trip to Aruba and nothing else, and, Giordano called his life insurance company immediately after she went missing (Gutman). Of other interest to police was Giordano’s state of appearance when first investigating the supposed crime scene. He was extremely sweaty and appeared to have some type of scratches on his neck. A video was discovered that showed the couple in a very intense argument and showed Giordano putting both hands around Gardner’s neck and forcing her into the elevator.
