Massotti, Kaydence Mr. Shipp English 1 5-23-23 Martin Luther King Jr’s speech & Figurative language Martin Luther King Jr's I have a dream speech used many figurative languages. He used figurative language in his speech because he wanted to emphasize with Americans of all color and race to know that there was racism and inequality. This includes metaphors which are figures of speech, including, similes, allusions, alliteration, and personification. For example, a simile in his speech would be ,“Justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream”. Martin Luther King Jr., was comparing righteousness to a mighty stream of water. Another example that he used is alliteration, “to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt''.
