You’re one of my own children!” In “A good Man is Hard to Find,” by Flannery O’Connor, the end of the story contains unexpected violence. “A Good Man is Hard to Find” begins with an innocent road trip, however, due to coercion by the grandmother; it soon turns into a fatal nightmare. The grandmother uses many excuses to go to Tennessee instead of Florida on vacation. This story implies a nonsensical violence or heavily burdened with imperceptive tools. This short story contains many of the elements which come to characterize the majority of her short works of fiction. The word Toomsboro enunciates like the word tomb. The word “tomb” could symbolize death. It also pointed out that the house the grandmother wants to visit represents her wanting to live in the past. This provides a tremendous example of foreshadowing.
