Examples Of Foreshadowing In Julius Caesar

271 Words2 Pages
In the book, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the author uses a literary technique for shadowing to give the reader a sense of how people feel about Caesar. We see three examples of foreshadowing. The author has people in the story give Caesar warnings. He uses the soothsayer, Caesar's wife, and Artemidorus. We get a sense of Caesar's character when he decides if he will listen or ignore the warnings. The first warning we get is from the soothsayer. In act one scene two on page 13, the soothsayer says to Caesar “beware the Ides of March.” The soothsayer warns Caesar that March 15 will be a better day. Caesar ignores the soothsayer. This shows that Cesar is selectively superstitious. The second warning is from Caesar's wife, Calpurnia.
