In “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”, Kipling uses foreshadowing by suggesting that Rikki could either win or lose the battle between him and the cobras and therefore creating the suspense of the story. “Come then, Nagaina. Come and fight with me. You shall not be a widow for long.” (Kipling 473). In this quote, Nagaina and Rikki are about to fight in the dining room of the bungalow.
