Have you seen foreshadowing in a story? If you have ever read a book then you probably have. Foreshadowing is a good thing to use when writing a story. One such writer who used foreshadowing was Washington Irving. A famous story of his is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Let me tell you how Washington Irving used foreshadowing. First off, Ichabod, the main character in the story of Sleepy Hollow, was really superstitious. To make things worse, there were a lot of superstitious tales in the area of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod always whistled a psalm whenever he was out at night to keep his spirits up. He is afraid of riding alone at night because he thinks that the Headless Horseman will come and get him. This obviously made them enemies throughout the story. Brom is known for his tricks and getting into fights and also likes to talk bad upon our somewhat type of hero Ichabod in front of Katrina. At the dance, Brom was sitting in the corner, jealous that Ichabod was dancing with Katrina instead of him.
