There have been many genocides that have occurred since the beginning of mankind’s time. Some, more gruesome than others the most explicit example of genocide is, The Holocaust. Under its name containing an immersive death toll during its occurrence, one of the most inhumane acts ever recorded, with many biographies taking place during this event; Diary of Anne Frank, and Night are some few examples published on the matter. There is no question on how big this act was, centered on the idea that a certain “leader” or dictator that has a tight set in mind that is, to exterminate the lesser race or in some cases the “parasites”. But this definition is still missing some content, some examples of the content that it may be missing is: targeting of intellect, the type of person they are, and in what a person believes in. So in some lamer terms the definition provided by the book it’s just not general enough. Genocides have been committed all over the world some of the earliest genocides, recorded around 1298-1303 (Rintfleisch massacres) and the latest one recorded, 2015-ongoing (Persecution of Yazidis by ISIL). And in the breakdown of the word genocide, it contains two syllables. Geno-, being derived from the Greek term ‘genos’, meaning race. And ‘-cide’, derived from Latin term ‘caedere’, kill, is committing homicide. The term itself, Genocide, was not known before 1944, formed together by a Polish-Jewish lawyer, Raphael Lemkin, wanted to make a term associated with the acts that the Germans committed during The Holocaust. The history to this genocide is during the expanse of four years, but the build-up to the genocide lasted twice as long. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, the country was in civil war and at the same time they were drawn to the conflict in Vietnam. Most of Cambodia’s population is a composition of Buddhists. Prince Sihanouk had a military coup where he was overthrown by General Lon Nol. Eventually, Prince Sihanouk joined forces with the Khmer Rouge, a communist organization. Soon after this union the country got stirred up and civil war struck the whole country. At the same time, right next to the country the Vietnam War was occurring. During these two events an estimate over 900,000 people died, over 750,000 killed by Americans during the Vietnam War, and over 150,000 killed during Cambodia’s Civil War, most of the casualties being civilians. In 1975, Civil War the Khmer Rouge gained power, and now had the control over Cambodia and was led by Pol Pot. His education was French nationality and he had and admiration for Chinese Communism. His belief included the abolishing of anything that could threaten the mentality of communism. The first event of this genocide started with Exodus. All the people living in the cities were forced to leave; these included children, the sick and the
