The ambition for power through greed creates evil in all people who seek that power. In Rumplestiltskin, the use of the king’s greed and ambition for power helps the dwarf achieve his goal of getting what he wants through deals involving people’s possessions. Because gold determines a person's power, the king demands a source for gold, fortunately, a citizen of his kingdom tells him that his daughter can spin gold. In paragraph 4 of the story, the king finds the room is full of gold and, as an act of greed, he demands more to be spun. Rumplestiltskin uses this to slowly gain more items throughout the story.
