Tom Walker symbolizes all of mankind by representing him as being sinful and evil( The Devil and Tom Walker), is a short story about a man who lives an immortal life of greed. This greed is what persuaded him or made him sell his soul for money to the devil. Tom also starts going to church trying not to think about the things he did wrong trying to get rid of his sinful mindset. A good example of Tom dealing with greed is greeding for power, knowledge, riches and treasures. The devil told Tom he knew a place where there were mountains of treasures that was buried someplace. Tom didn’t want to rush and proceed on with the offer about the treasure the devil had offered him. Then Tom makes his decision and goes and sells his soul to the devil
