Many people will argue that money is the root of all people, however, that isn't one-hundred percent accurate. Can money be the root of all evil? Yes, is it always? No. Money can cause people to do terrible things if they desire it way too much. What causes someone to want money so much that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get it? Well the obvious answer is greed, but carelessness, pride, and power can also cause people to be too infatuated with their vast fortunes. Starting with the obvious example; greed is most easily connected to Tom and his greed towards fame and women. Tom was extremely greedy, maybe he loved Daisy, but he still was secretly visiting his mistress. He was so greedy that he couldn't stand watching his women try to get out. He couldn't let Daisy do what she wanted because he wanted her for himself. This man is one of the classic examples of a man who does what he wants and doesn't care who he hurts including those close to him. Many people who were born rich and grew up richer become greedy and prideful, however most people who were born poor and found wealth like Gatsby tend to be more kind to others and less greedy, for example Gatsby was always kind towards Daisy even when he took the blame for what she had done. Sadly Daisy relayed his kindness by throwing him under the bus after he died and never told the truth and ran away. On the flip-side Tom was more interested in his money and his mistresses. Hopefully they will get what's coming to them but that doesn't always tend to
