In the classic American novel The Great Gatsby the character Jay Gatsby holds a dream that he strives to achieve during the novel. This dream is represented by a green light, which stands at the end of Daisy Buchanan's dock. Daisy happens to be the main subject of Gatsby’s dream. This green dream involves lots of money, winning the love of Gatsby’s life, and bringing her back to where they began their fondness of one another, Louisiana. Gatsby vigorously works to attain his life goal, however he never fully reaches it. Gatsby’s dream was to relive the love affair that he had with Daisy Buchanan when he was younger. He was forced to put their relationship on hold when he went into the war (WWI). While he was away, she became restless and started having another love affair with the wealthy, white money, Tom Buchanan. He intended to do so by moving right across a lake from her and becoming extremely wealthy, which is part of the reason why she chose Tom Buchanan over him while he was fighting during the war. Gatsby throws these lavish parties at his mansion hoping that Daisy will wonder into one some night so that they could reunite. Gatsby invites the narrator of the story, Nick Carraway to a party so that he can see the party scene and hopefully bring his cousin from across the lake, Daisy. When Nick comes to a party he meets his friend Jordan Baker, who is a professional golfer. Gatsby invites Baker to talk with him so that she can help bring Daisy and himself back together through Nick. He asks her to have Nick invite Daisy over for tea at his house one afternoon and he will go too and finally see her again after all his restless years.
