In the Crucible, there are a lot of people who did wrong things. Let’s take John Proctor, John Proctor did a wrong doing thing and then asked for a Forgiveness. John Proctor has a two kids who help him everyday on the farm and a wife, but John Proctor got into an affair with a girl name Abigail William and she wants to marry with John Proctor, however it lacks the capacity to forgive Himself. John Proctor has Succumb Sin and he commitss the adultery and asked for forgiveness.
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Abigail Williams and John Proctor are known to have had an adulterous affair with one another. Even though both John Proctor and Abigail are worthy of blame for their actions, Abigail is the most culpable of the two. In The Crucible, Abigail is the most to blame because of her “tempting” Proctor to carrying out the act more. During Act 1, Abigail is shown to keep egging on Proctor although he does not want to have the affair with her anymore.
Since the beginning of time people have gone through trials in court to either be proven innocent or guilty. In the Crucible by Arthur Miller a massive number of people were being convicted in Salem, Massachusetts because of the witch trials. The law of the land states that everyone is above suspicion until they are demonstrated to be guilty by legitimate evidence; in the play the Crucible if a person was accused of an unlawful act they were summons for being a witch and working for the devil without proper confirmation. Citizens in Salem were imposed to establish their innocent or be put to death, which caused conflicting issues in the village.
In this society that we live in today i believe that we blame others of the problems and we have and maybe have caused upon ourselves. This happen a lot in the crucible because in salem (1692-1693) since witchcraft was brought up that made people look at those who ever did them wrong before and use the witchcraft problem as a solution to get revenge on them. This happen before in the past such as the holocaust which was mainly against the jewish people and others, and also a time when 9/11 happen and how the outcome came out for most muslims that were considered scapegoats. In the book the Crucible there are many hypocrites some dishonest some just following any one to be guilty, but one of the many character is Judge Danforth he mocks Marry when he ask "How were you instructed in your life? Do you not know that God damns all liars?"(3-84), since Danforth is in power for being the judge he thinks that everyone else is ignorant and not being equal as him.
The Salem witch trials were a time period when any individual could be accused of witchcraft for numerous reasons. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller focuses on the deviation of the trials and how the town’s most religious and honest members of the community are tried with witchcraft. John Proctor, the town’s most honest man, is accused of being a witch and must decide if he should confess or not. Proctor’s confession will stop the town from rebelling and uphold the reputations of Deputy Governor Danforth and Reverend Parris. Hale also wishes for Proctor’s confession so he does not have to feel responsible if Proctor were to be hanged for his witchcraft accusations.
John Proctor’s words towards Elizabeth signal irritation and annoyance. John Proctor, the main character of The Crucible, has an affair with a much younger girl, Abigail Williams, breaking his wife, Elizabeth’s trust in him. Her suspicion of him rises when he tells her he was in a room alone with Abigail. Elizabeth’s growing mistrust begins to aggravate John, which is revealed when he says, “I’ll not have your suspicion any more” (489). Elizabeth is doubtful after learning about John’s affair with Abigail and her lack of trust in her husband begins to anger him.
The works of literature The Crucible and Crime and Punishment share a motif of guilt however, they differ in its effect. The main characters of both works commit crimes: Raskolnikov by murder and John Proctor by adultery. These crimes act as a catalyst to each book’s plot. In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov is plagued by guilt which initially manifests as delusions. As this guilt grows, he unsuccessfully tries to confess.
Guilt is emotional torture that transforms one's psychological operation. In the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, before the Salem witch trials emerge, John Proctor cheats on his wife Elizabeth Proctor, with young Abigail. Causing him to live with an eternal shame that generates dispute. Proctor’s endeavour is to elude from his wrongdoing, but he cannot because of the disgrace he feels himself to be when around Elizabeth. Miller shows that John Proctor's emotional and behavioral conflict rises from his guilt.

What if there was a society where God was loved the same amount as His wrath is feared? Well, in the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, the Puritans were a society who loved and feared God equally. They loved and feared Him to a point where they blamed others for their sins. A group of young girls were caught doing witchcraft in the forbidden woods. The girls put the blame on others so they would not be the ones in trouble and the accused Puritans were all innocent of doing witchcraft.
These changes take him from lustful and deceiving to loving and loyal. In The Crucible Arthur Miller paints John Proctor to be a lecherous man. In act one Proctor and Abigail are speaking somewhat hastily when proctor says,"Abby, I may think of you softly from time to time. But I will cut off my hand before I’ll ever reach for you again"(Miller 23).
In the play, The Crucible, Arthur Miller portrayed many themes. Miller uses many real life events from the Salem Witch Trials, a long with the added “Hollywood” drama. Miller uses this to show certain themes throughout the play such as guilt, hypocrisy, and injustice some of the characters induced. These themes all contribute to the outcome of the play, and all add together. Guilt can pressure a good person to do the right thing.
To me guilt is when I have done something wrong and I know I have but I keep it inside instead of addressing the person I wronged and asking for forgiveness. Guilt can also still occur after being forgiven by whoever you wronged.
