Hamlet in Modern Day Politics The book/movie Hamlet is a Shakespeare tragedy about a guy named Hamlet who went mad due to the death of his father, the king. While Hamlet’s dealing with the tragedy of his father’s death, he also had to deal with his mother instantly marrying his Uncle Claudius. One thing led to another and everyone in Hamlet dies. There are several things that Hamlet can be compared to like politics for example. One main thing that can be compared is the fact that in the beginning of Hamlet it starts off kinda slow until it hits the climax and spins off towards the nitty gritty parts. Now with the 2016 presidential election for example, the race started off with no one knowing who they were going to vote for. When it comes to hatred in modern day politics, it is everywhere. People know this because if you watch ten minutes of any debate you will hear nothing but people hating on each other. But that’s obviously not the only thing that they do, they do get down to business at the debates but it is mainly hating on each other. Now in Hamlet there is a lot of hatred towards many different people. For example Hamlet has a lot of hatred towards his Uncle Claudius for killing his father and instantly remarrying his mother. Another example of hatred in Hamlet is the hatred between Hamlet and Laertes. This is shown by the fact that Laertes wants to kill Hamlet because he killed his father. But little did Laertes know that Hamlet accidentally killed his father because he thought it was someone else who was spying on him. But little did Hamlet know it was Polonius which if he knew that it was Polonius he probably wouldn’t of killed him. But at the same time he might have just for the sole fact that he was spying on him and Hamlet wasn’t in a good mind
