Hero of All Heroes
There are many different characteristics and courageous acts that a person may be considered a true definition of what a hero is. In the story of Job, the author placed Job in many different uncompromising situations that even a sane person would not know the proper actions to take to get out of the situation. With Job being courageous and heroic, he managed to master each test while maintain his faith and loyalty in what he believed in. While on the other hand, Odysseus is another heroic person from the stories we have read that exemplified as many courageous acts just as Job did. Odysseus was faced with different test as he attempted …show more content…

With Odysseus being stranded and away from home for 10 years following his fight in the Trojan War, Odysseus managed to surpassed several test that strengthened him into the heroic person that he was. For example, in Book V it tells how Odysseus is still being held against his freewill by the nympho Calypso on her Island (pg. 385). It is assumed that there is no way at all for Odysseus to get back home to his land, all of his ships are missing and he has no crew to row him across the sea. Through all of those setbacks while on a quest to return home, the islanders also had a plot out to kill Odysseus’s son (pg.385). With these horrific incidents, Odysseus’s main focus was still to make it back home to his land. Calypso being visited by Hermes, was instructed by Zeus to release Odysseus from her possession. To me Calypso spoke these words to Odysseus because she saw that no matter she attempted with him he did not let that defeat him nor …show more content…

In my opinion, both Job and Odysseus were two of the most courageous upstanding men that I had ever seen. Job did whatever he could to keep his faith in God and at the same time, Job’s family was very important to him as well. No matter what test and tribulations that Job endured and went through, he refused to let anyone or anything get in the way of him and his faithfulness that he had for the lord. Job was chosen as a subject of a stern test of confidence, since he was undeniably the best man of confidence alive. God announced that Job’s loyalty and faith was in fact genuine. Satan convinced that Job’s loyalty was unusual loyalty. Job in the end, passed the test of faith with flying colors, however he showed the wonderful insightfulness of his loyalty. Job wanted nothing to do with anything that wasn’t of the lord and wasn’t good. Odysseus on the other hand was a courageous person as well, that did whatever it took for him to get back home to his wife. No man, sea, or woman got in the way of Odysseus getting to his destination. Odysseus was a heroic hero in both the physical and the spiritual intellect. In the physical intellect he is an extraordinary saint, since he defeats all of the countless risks that were taken, Job remains alive in the awaken of thinking for an extended amount of time and meeting some of the best
