Hopes and dreams are what make life worth living. Knowing there is a chance that one 's life could get better. A chance to experience true love. A chance at happiness. Hopes and dreams can come true but it takes determination and a lot of hard work. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, The Great Gatsby depicts a tragic love story, where one man 's lifelong aspirations are diminished by a cruel and reckless society. Fitzgerald uses the green light in The Great Gatsby, as a symbol of Gatsby hopes and dreams.
Gatsby fell in love with Daisy the moment he set eyes on her. He was in the military and was so poor and the uniform was the nicest clothes he owned. Gatsby’s dream is to one day be with Daisy. Gatsby knee he would have to work hard and earn a lot of money if he was to win her over. Over the next five years he fought in the war and saved his money. Where his money came from was a mystery but somehow he purchases a glorious mansion, expensive, stylish clothing, and a Rolls-Royce. These outlandish purchases were not for personal gain but to impress Daisy. He throws extravagant parties hoping that one night Daisy would attend and see the world he has built for her.
