Jem really matured of the course of the book. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Jem is a dynamic character because he experiences change in the book. The Reason I picked Jem to write this report on was because I remembered that the book talked about him changing all the way through the book, also I saw that he had become a very mature young man. Even in the end of the book he did immature things that make you wonder if had really matured or not. Jem shows immaturity in the beginning of the book in many ways. In the first paragraph it talked about him worrying about never being to play football ever again because off his broken arm which even if he couldn’t play football ever again it wouldn’t kill him. One time he showed immaturity was when they first met Dill and Jem told him about Boo Radley being six foot five and eats squirrels and cats if he can catch them which was obviously not true. After that Jem starts to mature. This is when he stops saying he’s too old for stuff and actually meaning he’s too old to be doing childish acts. He starts doing courteous actions to help other people. I thought it was almost mature of Jem and scout to ask questions when they go to negro church which shows they want to learn about what’s going on in society. He starts changing the way he sees things in society. I think was both brave and stupid of Jem scout and Dill to run in while Atticus was being threatened. It was brave of them because they wouldn’t leave because they knew those guys were threatening Atticus and might have killed him, but it was stupid because they could have got killed too.
