Do you believe in love at first sight? Romeo and Juliet did and it lead to both of their deaths. Romeo believed that he was in love, a feeling he had never truly felt before. As a young teen, you could expect that he would make some irrational decisions, but nothing like what he did to be with who he believed to be his true love. Romeo Montague 's fatal flaw was his impulsiveness due to falling in love and marry Juliet, becoming a murderer, and taking his own life . One reason Romeo was impulsive is because he fell in love with Juliet and married her only a day after meeting her. Romeo claimed to be in love with Juliet the first time that he saw her and immediately began obsessing over her. The night before the party where Romeo and Juliet met, Romeo had been crying over his ex girlfriend Rosaline. However, after meeting Juliet he was not upset at all about Rosaline. When asked by his pastor if he had been with Rosaline all night, Romeo stated “With Rosaline, father? No, I have forgotten that girl and all the sadness she brought me”(Shakespeare). Friar Lawrence responded with “Have you given up so quickly on Rosaline, whom you loved so much? Then young men love with their eyes, not with their hearts. Jesus and Mary, how many tears did you cry for Rosaline?”(Shakespeare). Not only was Romeo impulsive because he fell in love and married Juliet just days after being in love with another girl, he became a murderer in the process. Another reason Romeo was impulsive is because he murdered two people. He killed Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, and Paris, Kinsman of the Prince and suitor of Juliet. He murdered Tybalt after a feud between him and Mercutio, where Tybalt killed Mercutio. Romeo, speaking of Tybalt, says “He’s alive and victorious, and Mercutio’s dead? Enough with mercy and consideration. It’s time for rage to guide my actions.
