Individual voices challenge and disagree societal beliefs in many ways. The society in the story is indifferent and is can sometimes be really fragile because of all the events and is in some cases can be really brutal. Although the story does take place in the 19th century, it conveys the force of society through its setting in Salem, and the conflicts that arise. The characters in the story show societal beliefs through the making of masses and the opposing sides that were made through the development of the play. The use of the characters in the play help us identify the conflicts with each other and their society. The language they use also helps to understand the conflicts by providing the insights into the characters personality for example …show more content…

In some of the characters there personality really differs from person to person for example take a speech from John Proctor "I have gone tiptoe in this house this seven month since she is gone. I have not moved from here to there without i think to please you and still an everlasting funeral marches round your heart" This can really give the reader a better insights of John Proctors feelings towards such characters had his beliefs on how he is feeling about the community in a whole. I think that quote can really indicate that Proctor is a man who really thinks deeply and is much more educated that the other characters in the play. The references to the bible in the play are a big part. It helps create the impression of a different society one that is really isolated and deeply religious which they were up until Which Craft started happening in their community. Not only religion was a big part in Salem during this time it also caused a bunch of problems and caused an uproar of problems when the community had to deal with which craft. I think when these things started happening people in the community really thought about what they believed in and maybe changed for the better or for the worse, and these circumstances brought big change in the
