In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, a Mockingbird is a symbol of innocence. This story has to deal with the taking away of innocence by anything means. There are a couple characters that had their there innocence got taken or will be their innocence will be destroyed and taken away. In the book’s main characters: Tom Robinson, Jem, Scout and also Boo Radley have lost their innocence or have had it taken away.

Harper Lee tells us about this through by one of the characters. She also,shows it with Tom Robinson. He had a perfect family, had a good job and all of that had disappeared. Since he was a colored man and he got in trouble, and he had to go to court. All he did was help a young white lady that needed help with stuff. He did as a kind gesture and the woman jumped on him, he lost the court case and was sent to jail for nothing. Mr. Uunderwood said “it was a sin to kill to kill cripples and it is like slaughtering songbirds”. He also thinks everyone in this town is very foolish. After a weird night where a mob was going to hang Tom Scout stopped this by talking to one of the Cunninghams. wWhen the jury was deciding one juror said he was not guilty, tTo Atticus surprise one of the cunninghams did not find him guilty. …show more content…
