Jealousy
Have you ever wanted something that someone else has? Has anyone every acted with hatred towards you, and you have no idea why? These are two examples of jealousy. Jealous is a noun that means feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages. Synonyms to jealousy are envy, spite and hatred. The play Othello by William Shakespeare is set in the later half of the sixteenth century in Venice. Shakespeare used jealousy to drive the plot in many ways. It's colloquial to think that jealousy was a part of peoples’ lives thousands of years ago. There are other factors that drive the plot, but jealousy is the most prominent. Shakespeare uses jealousy to develop Iago, Othello, Desdemona, Roderigo, Brabantio and Emilia as well as the overall outcome of the play. The outcome of the play is tragic, because jealousy took control of everyone’s actions.
One would think that Othello is the main character because the book is named after him, but Iago actually plays a larger part. Iago is in most of the scenes. Iago has hatred toward Othello

All the jealousy throughout the play all came together. Roderigo was murdered, because Iago didn’t want anyone to find out he had been telling lies. Cassio was injured, because Roderigo thought he had something going on with Desdemona. Desdemona was murdered, because Othello thought that she was betraying him. Emilia was murdered, because Iago didn’t want her to tell the truths she knew. Othello killed himself because he was so distraught over killing Desdomona for the wrong reasons. Iago had created all this jealousy, and it increased everyone’s emotions towards the end of the play. He had messed up so many relationships. It was mostly Iago’s fault that Emilia, Desdemona, Othello and Roderigo are all dead. Everyone had their own weaknesses, and Iago had used them. He knew what to do to get what he thought he
